The Characters

Olive Dimpfle – The worrier. To be alone is a fate worse than death. She’s a party girl by nature but she’s definitely not the life of the party. That would take a stroke of confidence that Olive has a hard time mustering. Olive’s been dating Sam for several years now but their relationship is more comfortable than passionate. Her job as the secretary to Lavish Magazine (Rolling Stone’s biggest competitor) is a place holder until she gets the opportunity to report for them, which will happen just as soon… as anyone notices that she works there. An unplanned pregnancy makes her reassess what she wants out of life and that includes her friendship with Mocha.
Mocha Lewellen – As Olive’s lifelong friend, Mocha is the yang to her ying. For every risk that Olive gives up on, Mocha takes two. The boys love Mocha because she knows what she wants and she speaks their language. She’d rather be dead than pregnant. The words “monogomy,” “pastel,” and “wine coolers” are not in her vocabulary. She sings and plays lead guitar in the band “Typical Girls” which has been touring a lot lately, not that Olive’s noticed. Mocha’s broken a lot of hearts, but as they say in rock ‘n’ roll, “she’s too fast for love.”

Erica Green – Mocha’s gorgeous drummer and the dumbest blonde on Earth. The girls bring Erica along for the adventure, but having a conversation with her is harder than early-model implants.
Liz Dimpfle – Olive’s mom and a widow, Liz is the Norman Rockwell image of a mother. She’s sweet doting, and slightly lost without anyone to clean for.
Sam Grace – The boyfriend. He works as an immigration lawyer helping to get American citizenship for battered women and their families from places like Africa and the Middle East. He’s ready to settle down and knows that Olive is the one. The only thing he’d change about her is Mocha.
Mrs. Lavish – Olive’s employer and magazine mogul. Inspiring an industry has given her an epic ego and Olive’s only too ready to feed it.
The Triplets – Mrs. Karnal’s conniving, twelve-year-old children. Don’t let the bows and ruffles fool you, they are wolves in sheeps’ clothing.
Mocha’s Lovers – They’re all over the city and you never know when you might run into one.
Darrell – A pimp without a sense of humor.
Shandra and Jenna – Hookers that seem to smart to be working for Darrell. Perhaps free drugs and the chance to be movie stars is the motivation for their loyalty.
